10. Plugins
Thrive Apprentice

Thrive Apprentice is a high quality pluign for training your website members online. I really think Thrive Themes has designed it to help you create high quality courses and membership content.
I observe more here it is not a membership pluign or feature. There are many more plugins available that allow you to protect certain parts of your website, accessible only to members and charged for membership (eg S2Member, paid subscriptions, memberships, prominent members and much more) which are really excellent features.
It is also found here that Apprentice is not meant to replace any of these plugins. Instead, it will give you ideas about how to present and form your content in the member area.
Whether you want to create simple, but professional linking member’s page with download links and contents, or you want to create a fully featured course with multimedia lessons, multiple categories and more, but you have the facilities available in built-in templates.
Great News
Delighted news is that this Apprentice feature is currently available within several themes of Thrive Themes. These special themes are: Pressive, Squared, Minus, Ignition and FocusBlog
How to Activate Thrive Apprentice in These Themes –
First you have to enter your theme’s dashboard. In the theme wp admin dashboard, go to Thrive Dashboard >> Theme Options:
- In the Theme options that open, choose the “Apprentice” tab (1) in the theme options:
- Click on the “Enable” button (2) to activate the feature within the theme.
- Once activated, you’ll see a few additional features for the Apprentice feature, along with two new post types:
- Then you can create a structured course using Apprentice Lessons and pages that aren’t part of a course using Apprentice Pages. Read here to learn more about the difference between the two.
The tasks you need to do to set up basic membership content are described below in step by step. Here’s a walkthrough to give you a brief overview about how the apprentice app feature works, which will help you a lot:
Step 1: Process to create an outline for your course
An excellent way to start the job is to associate Apprentice Content Manager, which is also a new item available in your WordPress admin sidebar:
- In the content manager area, there 3 main Sections:
- On the left, you can use a drag-and-drop interface to re-arrange your desired lessons and categories (1). This area will be empty initially.
- You can add new categories directly from the interface (2). reminder that only the category name is required, but you can also add a outline text and you can define the “slug”, which determines how the category URL will be viewed.
- In the “Lessons Level” option (3), you can locate how many levels you want your content structure to have. To illustrate what this means, here are some examples:
- A arrangement with 1 level consists of modules and lessons (each module has multiple exercises).
- A arrangement with 2 levels consists of chapters, modules and lessons. Each chapter has multiple modules, each module has multiple lessons.
- A structure with 3 levels consists of products, chapters, modules and lessons (each product contains multiple chapters etc.).
- Finally, you’ll see a list of your lessons (4) that aren’t allocated to categories yet. From the list, you can drag them into the lessons arrangement.
- Consider how many levels you want to have in your lesson arrangement and produce the categories for them.
- This way, you can generate a rough draft of what your product will look like. Think of it like writing an sketch out of your table of contents first, before filling out the whole book with text.
Step 2: Process to create a new apprentice lesson
We can start here from this step – Let’s go”Apprentice Lessons” and click on “Add New” to create a new lesson. You’ll see an editor that is very similar to the post editor, with many of the same options.
- An Apprentice Lesson is simply the way you deliver your content in the Apprentice element.
- For each lesson you create, there are some unique Apprentice options:
- Add “Download Links” to create a resources section at the bottom of your lesson. This can consist of download links (for PDFs etc.) as well as links to outside sources. Here’s an example of what the resources section can look like:
- In the lesson options, you can also set a “Lesson Type” such as audio lesson or video lesson. This allows you to build a multi-media course. The way the different lesson type’s work is like to the blog post formats supported in some of our themes.
- When you create Apprentice lessons, you can either assign them to a category you’ve already set up, in the post editor, or you can later allocate them by going back to the content manager.
Step 3: Process to create a member homepage:
We can start here from this step of membership landing page – you can create Apprentice Pages. Apprentice Pages are meant for any kind of content that isn’t part of the lesson structure. Just right example is a member homepage or a welcome page.
- Click on “Apprentice Pages” and “Add New” to create a new Apprentice Page. For a welcome page, you can add any starting message you want to provide whenever a new member or customer logs in. You will also find new Apprentice short codes accessible:
- The “Welcome Back” short code is perfect for a member homepage. With it, you can create a nice, large call to action that will encourage first time audiences to start with the first lesson (it will automatically link to the first lesson in your lesson structure). For members who’ve looked through part of the lessons and come back later, the Welcome Back short code will link to the last place where they left off.
Step 4: Process to add Navigation Widget
This is the final step we can start from here – A feature that really makes Apprentice come together is the Lessons Navigation Widget. Go to “Appearance” and “Widgets” to find the new widget and new widget areas available.
- You’ll find new widget areas for Apprentice (2). This means you can confirm completely different widget content on Apprentice pages and lessons, than elsewhere on your site.
- One of the new widgets available is the “Apprentice Navigation Widget”. Add it and save your changes to see the result:
- The navigation widget automatically creates a full summary over your Apprentice Lessons, including the arrangement and order that you’ve set in the Content Manager.
- If you simply add this widget to the sidebar and activate the previous/next lessons options, that means your members will always have an easy way to navigate through your course content and you can update and restructure everything with drag-and-drop ease.
This review is a basic summary of the Apprentice features. I hope this discussion will help you to find out more about the Thrive Apprentice.

Thrive
Themes is so user friendly that has created a central dashboard inside
WordPress where you can manage and configure settings for Thrive Product Suite.
To facilitate work Thrive Dashboard is divided into two parts:
- Installed products
- Thrive features
The works of the Installed products section are as follows:
- The incremental dashboard will increase in the upper half as you increasingly install the product. In this example you can see four plugins and have a theme installed directly.
- Each product has a mini drop down menu that links directly to the member area by linking the member base and support forums (later more later).
The works of Thrive features section are as follows:
- The lower half of the Thrive Dashboard contains common settings related to all of Thrive’s products.

You’ll find your license key details from here, which will enable you to activate your products in WordPress. For this page, you can see several levels of subscription and how many each license key used.
Membership Plans & Thrive Themes Pricing:
Thrive themes is not only good on your website optimization, they are also very aware of their plans optimization too. For example, you can get a single license for $ 67 which you can use for 5 websites, I think that is very pleasant and a collaborative offer for users.
They offer more whenever you decide to purchase your Thrive Themes subscription, and then you can lock your subscription charge for life.
Whenever you decide to purchase your Thrive Membership, you lock in your subscription price for life. It’s a great incentive to ‘buy now’ Thrive Themes constantly adding new products to the range which will keep you updated forever.
Thrive themes currently have two membership levels:
Thrive Membership – $19/month (annually) or $25/month (quarterly)
Use all of the plugins and themes on all of your own sites
